India’s emphatic win over New Zealand in the last group-stage match in Dubai finalized the knockout fixtures. The victory secured India’s top spot in their group, setting up a semi-final clash with Australia, while New Zealand, finishing second, will challenge South Africa in Lahore.

The tournament has seen some high-intensity cricket, but rain interruptions in Pakistan affected some fixtures. New Zealand began their campaign with a statement win over defending champions and hosts Pakistan before sealing their semi-final spot with a commanding victory over Bangladesh. However, a loss to India in their final group match meant they finished second.

India, playing with the confidence of tournament favorites, swept through their group. After an opening win against Bangladesh, they produced a commanding performance to defeat arch-rivals Pakistan, confirming their semi-final qualification. Their twin over New Zealand ensured they finished as group leaders.

South Africa made a strong start, overcoming Afghanistan in their first match. Their second fixture, against Australia, was abandoned due to rain in Rawalpindi, but they bounced back with a dominant win over England, chasing the target inside 30 overs to top their group.

India will face Australia, while New Zealand will face South Africa in the semi-finals

Australia, missing key bowlers, were not among the early favorites to reach the knockout stage. However, their batting power was on full display after they chased down England’s imposing 352-run total with remarkable ease. Their remaining two group matches were washed out, but their strong start was enough to secure a semi-final berth.

India and Australia will battle it out in Dubai on Tuesday, while South Africa and New Zealand meet at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium on Wednesday, March 5.

The venue for the final will depend on India’s semi-final result. If India reaches the final, it will be played in Dubai but in case of Australia’ victory, the final will be played in Lahore.
