The Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) Convention is hosting its 61st annual convention in Dallas, TX, during Labor Day weekend, Aug. 30 - Sept. 2, at the Hilton Anatole Hotel.

The convention serves as one of the largest gatherings of Muslims in North America to provide a platform for Muslims to discuss important issues, learn from various speakers and engage in community-building activities.

This year’s theme is “The Muslim American: Forging Faith and Action” which was inspired by the Quranic verse (18:30) that says, “As for those who believe and lead a righteous life—We will not waste the reward of those who work righteousness.”

“We have come a long way, but we also know that we have a long way to go, there are a number of challenges that the community faces,” said Former ISNA president and current board member, Azhar Azeez. “Our scholars and leaders will provide guidance to address these challenges. Also, it is very inspiring to be under one roof, with thousands of Muslims coming together, and celebrating our accomplishments. This is a great avenue to network. It’s like a family reunion.”

Attendees can expect to engage in various panel discussions that relate to American Muslim issues and concerns including spirituality, social justice, youth work, interfaith relations and mental health. To ensure gender balance and representation, ISNA provides gender balance in several male and female speakers who address the connection.

Big names are on the line-up, including former MSNBC anchor Mehdi Hasan and presidential candidate Dr. Cornel West, who will speak on several topics such as the crisis in Gaza and the university protests.

The Muslim Student Association and Muslim Youth of North America will host a separate panel track that caters to the youth perspective.

Aside from panel discussions, the convention offers activities for all interests with a film festival, robotics events, a basketball tournament and more. Medical professionals will also be there to administer vaccinations to those in need.

A marketplace, or bazaar, will also feature nearly 350 vendors selling Islamic books, clothing, art and other items.

The 61st ISNA Convention is expected to offer valuable experiences and insights for all who attend. For more detailed information about the convention, including dates, location and program specifics, visit ISNA.net, where you can register for the event.
