LeBron James has etched his name in the history books once again, becoming the first NBA player to score 50,000 combined points. He was pivotal in Lakers’ win over New Orleans Pelicans, surpassing the mark early in the first quarter of the game.

Luka Doncic was the provider for LeBron’s history-making point, passing the ball to the 40-year-old American who finished the move with a sublime 25-foot three-pointer. He finished the match with 34 points, taking his overall tally to 50,033 points.

James is now more than 6000 points clear of Kareem Abdul Jabbar, the second player on the list. His points tally consists of 41,871 regular season points, while he scored 8,162 points in the postseason games, also an NBA record.

After the match, LeBron talked with the media, and was full of emotions. "I'm not going to sugar-coat it - it's a hell of a lot of points,” said LeBron James. “ I'm super blessed to be able to put up that many points in my career in the best league in the world and against the best players in the world - it's pretty special."

This is the 22nd season of LeBron’s career, tied with Vince Carter for the most played in NBA history. He was named the NBA's Western Conference Player of the Month last Tuesday. He became the oldest player to win the award after averaging 29.3 points, 10.5 rebounds and 6.9 assists last month.

LeBron James surpassed Kareem Abdul Jabbar as the player with most points in NBA history last year

Magic Johnson, the Los Angeles Lakers legend, paid tribute to James on his remarkable achievement by posting on the Social media platform X, "Congratulations to the King LeBron James for becoming the only player in NBA history to score 50,000 regular season and playoff points!"

Luka Doncic was also in superb form against Pelicans, scoring 30 points, 15 assists and eight rebounds. Lakers have been on fire since the arrival of Luka Doncic last month, winning seven consecutive games. They are now second in the Western Conference standings.
