In a powerful political move, British rock giants Coldplay made headlines at the Glastonbury Festival by featuring Palestinian-Chilean singer Elyanna during their headlining performance.

During their headlining set, Coldplay delivered a compelling "We Pray" performance from their upcoming album "Moon Music."

The song’s poignant lyrics, “We pray that we make it 'til the end of the day,” struck a chord with the crowd.

As the set progressed, lead singer Chris Martin underscored the band’s mission to serve as a “beacon of togetherness,” highlighting their commitment to unity and solidarity in a divided world.

Coldplay has consistently demonstrated its stance against the Israel-led Gaza war, most notably vocalizing their opposition during a concert in Tokyo last November.

Elyanna, born Elian Margieh in Nazareth, has made a significant impact on the music scene by the age of 22. Her early start was shaped by a strong family legacy in the arts, with her mother and grandfather both being published poets.

Elyanna’s distinctive sound merges Arabic music with Latin rhythms and contemporary pop influences.

She started singing at age seven and draws inspiration from legends like Etta James and Amy Winehouse.

Reports reveal that Elyanna’s brother Feras was the first to spot her talent when he heard her singing Adele songs. Excited by her ability, he quickly called their mother over to listen. “He was like, ‘Oh my God, you have a real gift,’” Elyanna shared in a 2023 Nylon interview. “He told my mum to come over so she could hear me.” Once she began singing, Elyanna recalls, “I just couldn’t stop. I was singing all the time.”

As reported by ABC News, Elyanna’s family moved to California to advance her music career. Settling in San Diego, she started posting cover songs on Instagram, which eventually led to her being discovered by Grammy-winning singer and producer Nasri Atweh.

Her growing popularity secured her a contract with Universal Arabic Music, headed by Wassim “Sal” Slaiby, who also manages The Weeknd, according to Nylon.

After dropping two EPs, Elyanna (2020) and Elyanna II (2022), she released her long-awaited debut album, Woledto, this past April. The title, which translates to “I am born” in Arabic, highlights her journey and deep connection to her roots.

The album blends traditional and modern sounds, celebrating her Palestinian heritage and marking a significant step in her artistic development.

Understanding the gravity of her role, she remarked, “It’s a big responsibility. I’m representing my culture, but I’m putting in a lot of hard work.”
