As the 2024 presidential race heats up, former President Donald Trump has demanded that President Joe Biden take a drug test before their critical debates.
"I'm going to demand a drug test too, by the way," Trump said at the Minnesota Republican Party's Lincoln Reagan Dinner on Friday.
The former president referenced Biden's State of the Union address in March to support his call for drug testing, alleging that Biden was "high as a kite" during the speech.
President Joe Biden, 81, spoke loudly and at a brisk pace during his lengthy address. Rep. Greg Murphy (R-N.C.), co-chair of the GOP Doctors Caucus, claimed on FOX Business Network's "Mornings with Maria" that Biden "must have been jacked up on something that day."
On Wednesday, the former president and Biden quickly agreed to two presidential debates, set for June and September. With the first debate just over a month away, Biden and Trump are preparing for these crucial face-offs.
This isn't the first time Trump has insisted on Biden taking a drug test before a debate. Back in 2020, the former reality TV star raised concerns about Biden's debate performances during the Democratic primaries, describing them as "uneven."
Trump made it clear then that he would vigorously demand a drug test before they squared off. However, neither candidate underwent a drug test before their 2020 presidential debate.
Trump had also levied similar claims against his 2016 opponent, Hillary Clinton. As of now, the Biden campaign has not yet responded to Trump's latest attack.
