The perpetual drama surrounding Britain's most popular family continues to unfold as author Omid Scobie’s new book ‘Endgame’ has reportedly named a royal family member who questioned the skin color of Harry and Meghan Markle’s son ‘Archie’ before he was to be delivered.
Scobie’s original narration includes a passage where he claims that the Duchess of Sussex had spoken to her father-in-law King Charles via letters where she named the person.
However while the original text does not provide the name in print, it has reportedly been printed in the Dutch edition, over what is being deemed as a translation error.
It isn’t clear why a foreign language version of the book would name an individual when other editions did not, or whether it was intentionally included instead of being a printing error.
Xander, the publisher of the Dutch translation, has put sales of the book on hold "temporarily."
The decision has led to the destruction of an order for thousands of copies of the new book. A spokesperson for Xander said: "We are temporarily withdrawing the book by Omid Scobie from sale. An error occurred in the Dutch translation and is currently being rectified."
The controversy surrounding the racist allegations first came to light when Markle and her famous husband sat for an interview with Oprah Winfrey.
And while the topic was discussed in front of the visibly shocked TV mogul, no names were called out, to avoid ‘damaging’ the concerned person.
However, since then, Scobie has claimed, “ I do know who made the comments about Archie's skin colour."
He also added that King Charles branded Harry a "fool" over the Harry and Meghan documentary, refusing to speak to him entirely afterward.
The resulting furor led to a rare response from the royal household as Prince William stated publicly that they were 'very much not a racist family'.
Buckingham Palace said the claims were 'concerning' and that 'recollections may vary' but they would address the claims privately.
On the alleged error in the Dutch version, Scobie stated, "The book is in several languages, and unfortunately I do not speak Dutch."I wrote the English version. There was no version from me in which names were mentioned."
