Lionel Messi could be back in FC Barcelona at the end of the 2026-27 season, according to multiple reports. Messi left Barcelona in 2021, leaving the fans emotional and heartbroken. It wasn’t an easy transfer for him either, as he cried during his speech at the farewell press conference.

Messi went on to sign with Paris Saint-Germain after Barcelona was unable to offer a new contract due to their ongoing financial crisis. After spending a couple of seasons in the French Capitals, Messi moved to Miami, to sign with David Beckham’s Inter Miami.

He continues to shatter records and attract many fans to the U.S. stadiums. However, there are now rumors of him coming back to Barcelona, where it all began.

Reports by TNT suggest FC Barcelona is preparing a huge deal with significant changes and steps to bring the club’s record-scorer and greatest-ever player back to Spain. Reports suggest that Barcelona could make the move in summer of 2026, right after the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which the United States, Canada, and Mexico will host.

Messi will be 39 years old in 2026, meaning Barcelona could be the last club of his career and fittingly as well. Messi has expressed the desire to go back to Barcelona on multiple occasions, but the club couldn’t make the deal due to their financial inability.
