Israeli actor and "Wonder Woman" star Gal Gadot's Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony on Tuesday turned into a battleground of opposing views on Israel’s war in Gaza as protesters on both sides gathered, delaying the event and prompting a police response.

As Hollywood celebrated Gadot’s achievements, demonstrators made their presence felt. Pro-Palestinian protesters held signs reading "Heroes Fight Like Palestinians", "Viva Viva Palestina", and "No Other Land Won Oscar", referencing the Palestinian documentary that won the Academy Award for Best Documentary this year.

The ceremony, enclosed by tents, mirrored the security measures taken at the premiere of Snow White, in which Gadot plays the Evil Queen.

Yet, barriers did little to silence protesters chanting, “Up up with liberation, down down with occupation” and “Not another nickel, not another dime, no more money for Israel’s crime.”

One demonstrator told a media outlet, “We’re all really upset about what’s happening in Gaza right now. In just the past 24 to 48 hours, the Israeli military has killed 400 innocent people, unprovoked. There’s no reason we should be celebrating an Israeli today.”

Despite the disruption, the ceremony proceeded however late.

Hosted by Steve Nissen, it featured speeches from Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins, actor Vin Diesel, and Israeli actress Shira Haas.

Gadot took the podium, saying, “I’m just a girl from a town in Israel. This star will remind me that with hard work, passion, and faith, anything is possible.”

Critics have pointed to her military background, branding her support for Israel as hypocritical.

Pakistani author Fatima Bhutto condemned the honor, stating, "A former sniper defending her fellow mercenaries the day after we watched the Israeli army murder 89 children—babies in their pajamas—in cold blood."

Gadot, a former Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) member, has long supported Israel. Though she told the media she “doesn’t talk about politics,” she admitted the events of October 7 pushed her to speak out.

"I could not be silent," she said. "I was shocked by how much people think they know when they actually have no idea. The media is often unfair, and I had to speak up."

She has consistently used her platform to defend Israel, tweeting in 2021: "Israel deserves to live as a free and safe nation, and our neighbors deserve the same."

On October 8, 2023, she posted "I stand with Israel", later hosting a private Hollywood screening of an Israeli military-produced documentary.

Her Walk of Fame star now stands as a symbol of Hollywood’s contradictions—where outspoken voices on Palestine are silenced, but unwavering support for Israel remains largely unchallenged.
