Maryam Bisharat, a Palestinian karate athlete, defeated an Egyptian competitor in the final match to claim the gold medal at the World Junior and Youth Championship.
This milestone came after she secured a win in the semi-finals against an Italian national team member, finishing with a score of 8-3.
Bisharat won the Asian Championship last August and the World Karate Championship in late May.
At the 2024 World Cadet, Junior & U21 Championships in Italy, the Palestinian karateka demonstrated exceptional athletic talent, finishing at the top of the competition in this esteemed international event.
Bisharat demonstrated outstanding spirit and resolve as she reached the final in the cadet kumite female over 61-kilogram category at the Palazzo del Turismo Jesolo in Venice.
The 13th World Cadet, Junior & U21 Karate Championships, hosted by the World Karate Federation (WKF), ran from October 9-13 in Venice, Italy.
Male and female karate competitors from numerous countries, including Albania, Azerbaijan, Croatia, Cyprus, Denmark, Egypt, Germany, Greece, Iran, Italy, Kazakhstan, Mexico, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Saudi Arabia, Spain, and the United States, gathered for the international event.
Earlier this year, Bsharat earned a gold medal at the 2024 AKF Cadet, Junior & U21 Championships held in Manila, Philippines. She later added another gold to her achievements at the 2024 Karate 1 Youth League in A Coruña, Spain.
